In order to be able to be proud of the master’s degree, it will be necessary to defend the master’s thesis, which you should write yourself before. Unfortunately, this task is not as easy as in the case of a bachelor’s thesis and especially if you are a student of one of the technical faculties, where the work will be presented will have many experiences and research before you carried out. So how to prepare for writing a master’s thesis? What to pay special attention to? Take advantage of our practical tips below and make your life easier!
Master’s thesis – where to start?
This question probably already appeared in your head, you are wondering what should you focus on at the very beginning?
Maybe we’ll start with a time that plays an extremely important role in this particular case. Do not make the same mistakes as in high school and do not postpone everything for the last moment. Writing a thesis should be started preferably a few months before attempting to defend it.
Prepare yourself an initial action plan, determine how many hours per week you will spend writing your work, obtaining the materials you need, and consulting the promoter.
Choosing the topic of work and promoter
Are you wondering why the choice of topic should go hand in hand with the choice of the promoter? Well, the answer to this question is very simple. The supervisor or lecturer is the person who will actively support you in writing your master’s thesis, which is why it is so important to be a person who will be a specialist in a chosen field related to the subject of the presentation.
Now we will focus on the topic – it would be best if it was closely related to your interests and passions, only then will you enjoy doing work. You do not know what field to focus on? Take advantage of the topics available in the school library or the Internet, ask your friends but remember to be inspired and not to download. The work should be original and written by yourself!
Work slowly and reliably!
This is extremely important and the preparation of the presentation plan will help you in this. Specify the title and then divide the work into individual chapters. Remember that each subsequent, already completed section of your work should be discussed with the promoter, in this way you will be able to make the necessary corrections on a regular basis.
The first goal is to prepare an introduction which, depending on the promoter’s requirements, will be at the beginning or the end of the thesis. It should include, among others: information about the purpose of the work, who it is addressed to and whom it is to help, why the choice has just been made on this topic, annotation regarding the conducted research and its general scheme.
As far as the chapters are concerned, it should be remembered here that each of them consists of three parts – introduction, development and summary.
Completion of the work should be relatively concise enriched with your own thoughts, opinions and assessments. Do not focus on specific chapters, summarize the whole presentation.
